Bottella De Leche
A really cool hostel ran by an Argentinian family, while we were there the mum was away so her surf instructor son was in charge. The hostel had a TV area with hammocks, a communal (half outdoor) kitchen and all the rooms had balcony's.
Tamarindo was just what we needed at the beginning of our trip, a small town that was very touristy. The beach was good and about a 10 minute walk away. We had a quiet first day and night there, chilling on the beach and then a quiet beer in the evening.
There were lots of friendly people we met while staying there, especially Alex, a Scottish guy, who had sold his company and was now traveling for 5 years to every continent, had some tall stories but was very helpful in telling us about the town.
All of our days there involved getting up late, reading or watching TV until the midday sun was over then going to the beach. The evenings alternated between quiet ones and nights out. On one of the nights out we played a massive game of ring of fire with an English guy called Daniel Craig who was working in San Jose and two American girls he was with.
